ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine (1) the shape of Ogoh-ogoh in Munduk village is related
to the value of religious education (2) Munduk village community's perception of the
existence of Ogoh-ogoh (3) What values need to be reconstructed in Ogoh-ogoh in Munduk
village . Using a type of qualitative research, with a purposive sampling technique that took
samples of Bendesa adat, Hindu Religion Teachers, and the head of the Karang Taruna
village of Munduk. Data collection by observation, interview and documentation methods
were carried out using a phenomenological approach. The results showed that: (1) The shape
of the Ogoh-ogoh in Munduk village is Bhuta Kala Depiction of Anthorophomorphes (like
humans with various advantages) and Semi Anthorophomorphes (half human or half animal)
as a symbol of negative energy both in humans and in the universe. which must be
neutralized into positive energy as a form of harmony according to the concept of Tri Hita
Karana (2) There is an error in the implementation of religious ceremonies, but it has been
carried out continuously with the principle of "Anak mula keto" (it has always been like that).
such as the procession of parading the Ogoh-ogoh by drinking liquor whose initial purpose is
to increase enthusiasm but has the potential to bring about negative things that tarnish the
sanctity of religious ceremonies. (3) Ogoh-ogoh which was originally intended to neutralize
negative energy will become contradictory, especially when the Ogoh-ogoh procession is
used as a cover to legitimize the presence of liquor. These are the things that need to be
repaired and restored (reconstructed) to their original standards so that every year we do not
lose the religious value of this Ogoh-ogoh procession. Based on these findings, it can be
concluded that the presence of Ogoh-ogoh to Munduk village brings positive learning for the
younger generation of Ogoh-ogoh makers, in the form of knowledge about the symbolization
and philosophical meaning of Ogoh-ogoh. Ogoh-ogoh who is being hit by euphoria in
celebrating the Ogoh-ogoh procession by drinking liquor.
