GAMBUH BANTUAN: EKSISTENSI, STRUKTUR, DAN TRANSFORMASI ESTETIK DI TENGAH DINAMIKA INDUSTRI BUDAYA

This research is motivated by the lack of scientific studies on the existence, structure, and aesthetic transformation of the Gambuh Gambuh Batuan style, Sukawati sub-district, Gianyar regency. The main problem in this study is how the existence, performance structure, and aesthetic transformation of Gambuh Bantuan in the midst of the dynamics of the times have an impact on the marginalization of traditions, especially Gambuh art. The method used is a qualitative approach with document analysis and a comparative study between two styles of Gambuh dance drama. The results of the study show that Gambuh Bantuan has distinctive characteristics in terms of movement, costume, musicality, and the number of punakawan figures. In addition, there is a transformation of the form of the performance from sacred to profane, as well as adaptation to the context of tourism and festivals. This study concludes that Gambuh Batuan is a form of classical dance drama that has great potential to be preserved and further developed through community involvement and digitalization strategies.
