PEMENTASAN WAYANG KULIT LAKON GATOT KACA DUTA SEBAGAI MEDIA SULUH DHARMA

Abstract

Shadow puppetry is an integral part of Indonesia's rich and diverse local wisdom. Shadow puppet shows have a variety of plays or stories that are used as a medium in providing knowledge to the community from illustrations. Wayang kulit is not only a traditional art, but has a role as a medium for learning cultural, moral and spiritual values to the community to live life. As science develops, more and more technology emerges that becomes entertainment for the community, both adults and children, shadow puppets begin to be abandoned. A descriptive qualitative approach is used to collect data, which consists of several data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation techniques and the results of various data collection techniques are processed and analyzed descriptively. The wayang kulit Gatot Kaca ambassador from Mangku Dalang I Nyoman Rajeg tells the task of Gatot Kaca to propose Dyat Ranta Kusuma, the son of King Syandhana, to King Dharmawangsa. Wayang performances are also a medium for dharma instruction, this is evident where in the performance there are values given by the puppeteer, both in characterization and story. The shadow puppet performance with the Gatot Kaca Duta play has character values contained in 18 national character values, namely, the value of hard work, honesty, curiosity and peace love.
