GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN PRESIDEN JOSE MUJICA DALAM PERSPEKTIF ETIKA HINDU: KAJIAN TERHADAP AJARAN ASTA BRATA

Abstract

Leadership is a fundamental factor in determining the direction of a policy for national development and the welfare of the people. President Jose Mujica, the president of Uruguay, is known as a simple, humble, and progressive leader. This study aims to examine President Jose Mujica's leadership style from a Hindu ethical perspective, specifically through the teachings of Hinduism Asta Brata. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method, using an objective approach. The author used a literature study data collection technique. The results of the study show that Mujica reflects the principles Asta Brata in his leadership practice: simplicity of life as a form Candra Brata, firmness in social policy as Agni Brata, fair management of the country's economy as Kuwera Brata, as well as attention to the well-being of the people as Indra Brata. Thus, Jose Mujica's leadership style can be seen as aligned with Hindu ethical values ​​that emphasize the balance between power, morality, and service. This research is expected to provide theoretical contributions to broadening the study of cross-cultural leadership philosophy and provide practical inspiration for leadership models based on simplicity and virtue.
