Abstract

Leadership is the process of influencing or providing an example to subordinates to achieve organizational goals. The influence of leadership style will have an impact on subordinate performance. The performance dynamics of a company or organization are largely determined by the leadership style of its leader. In Balinese culture, Hindu leadership is known as the teachings or concept of Asta Brata. Asta Brata is an example of Hindu leadership found in Itihasa Ramayana. Asta Brata are eight types of leadership that form the eight characteristics of God's omnipotence. This teaching was conveyed by Sri Rama to Wibhisana as king of Alengka Pura replacing his younger brother Ravana. In the Asta Brata concept, there are eight Hindu religious teachings about leadership that should be applied and used as guidelines for a leader. Apart from the Asta Brata concept, a leader also really needs to have basic knowledge to carry out his duties. In Hindu religious teachings, the basic principle used as guidance by the authorities is the concept of Tri Hita Karana. By applying the Tri Hita Karana concept which includes Parhyangan, Pawongan, Pabelasan, a leader will be able to explain (account for) his performance and be able to create harmonious and balanced relationships. These three components are present in such a way as to provide a positive feedback impact on members of the community they lead
