Abstract

Children with visual impairments, known as Anak Tunanetra, include those who are totally blind and those with low vision. Despite their visual challenges, these children often have highly developed senses of hearing and touch. However, in the context of distance learning, Anak Tunanetra face significant difficulties. This is primarily because both students and teachers lack devices or computers specifically designed for children with visual impairments. Currently, learning is conducted through WhatsApp Groups. Therefore, the most effective medium to use is audio media. Although there are various forms of audio media, the author has chosen to use voice messages. Voice messages are the easiest to apply because they help conserve students' data usage, which is another challenge in distance learning for both students and parents. Through voice messages, children can listen to the material sent by the teacher via WhatsApp Group. These messages can also be replayed multiple times by the students, making it easier for them to grasp the lessons. In distance learning, the steps taken by the teacher include sending the material via voice messages through WhatsApp Group, asking students to listen to the material, engaging in discussions with students through voice messages, and then having students complete exercises to assess their understanding of the material. Voice messages are highly effective in distance learning for children with visual impairments.
