Hakikat Makna Sesajen Dalam Benjang Helaran

Abstract

The diversity of Indonesian culture that continues to grow affects several factors in Indonesia, one of which is the Indonesian tradition that experiences cross-cultural mixing of culture and religion is the art of benjang helaran. Where, benjang helaran experienced Islamization which originally came from Hinduism then over time mixed with Islam, so that many of the events contained in the art of benjang experienced acculturation so that the nuances of Islam. The main purpose of this thesis is to find out the background of the process of Islamization in the art of benjang helaran and what is the essence of the meaning contained in the benjang helaran offerings after the transformation with Islam. In this research the author uses descriptive method of qualitative analysis. The result of this research is that the process of Islamization in Benjang Helaran occurred through Hinduism at first. Evidence of this Islamization can be observed in various aspects, including the theme, language, and songs presented, as well as the clothing of the dancers. In addition, there are significant changes in the meaning of offerings made before the performance, the integration of Benjang Helaran art with religious events, and the educational elements that appear after the event, which highlight the relationship between the art form and Islamic values. The essence of the meaning of offerings contained in the benjang helaran
