Memahami Simbolisme dan Peranan Pelinggih Mobil Tentara Dalam Tradisi Spiritual Masyarakat Lokal di pura Mengening Desa Sangket

Abstract

This article aims to understand the symbolism and role of the Army Car Pelinggih, in the spiritual tradition of the Sangket Village community, especially in the Mengening Temple. The Pelinggih designed to resemble an army car is not only a physical representation, but also reflects the values of honor, devotion, and protection believed in by the community. In daily practice, the community holds various rituals at the temple, such as the Melasti and Ngaturang Banten ceremonies, where the Army Car Pelinggih becomes the center of attention and a symbol of hope for safety during the journey. Through observation and interviews with local residents, it was revealed that this Pelinggih has a deep meaning related to the cultural and spiritual identity of the community. They see it as a form of respect for the heroes and the spiritual power that protects them. Thus, the Army Car Pelinggih functions as a bridge between tradition and modernity, reminding the community of the importance of appreciating cultural heritage while still adapting to changing times.
