This study aims to describe the social life of a multicultural community and analyze its role in fostering interreligious tolerance in Kauman Village, Yogyakarta. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving eight purposively selected informants, including community leaders, residents, and youth members of Kauman Village. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while the credibility of the findings was ensured through source triangulation. The findings reveal that the social life of the Kauman Village community is characterized by inclusiveness, reflected in everyday social interactions, collective community activities, respect for cultural traditions, and a strong social support system among residents regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, the study found that this inclusive social life plays a significant role in fostering interreligious tolerance through four main mechanisms: social interaction as a medium for developing mutual understanding, collective activities as a platform for strengthening social cohesion, inclusive social norms as behavioral guidelines, and the celebration of diversity as an expression of active tolerance. The study concludes that an inclusive social life grounded in the values of mutual cooperation serves as the primary foundation for building strong and sustainable interreligious tolerance within a multicultural community.
