Abstract

The tourism industry relies heavily on the quality of human resources, particularly tour guides, who play a strategic role in shaping tourist experiences and satisfaction. At EXO Travel Indonesia in Bali, variations in freelance tour guide performance have been identified, particularly in terms of service consistency, punctuality, and adherence to operational standards. These issues indicate the need to examine factors that may influence performance, especially work motivation and work discipline. This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation and work discipline on the performance of freelance tour guides at EXO Travel Indonesia, Bali.

This research uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consisted of 50 freelance tour guides, all of whom were selected as samples using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression supported by t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination with the assistance of SPSS software.

The results show that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on tour guide performance, and work discipline also has a positive and significant effect on tour guide performance. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence tour guide performance with a contribution of 62.1%, while the remaining 37.9% is influenced by other variables outside the study.
