KOMUNIKASI BUDAYA DALAM TRADISI MEKERING-KERINGAN ENDUT DI DESA ADAT BANYUNING, KECAMATAN BULELENG, KABUPATEN BULELENG

A tradition may not last long in a particular society, and may even die and become extinct because that society considers it worthless or not functional. Cultural inheritance is the process by which knowledge, values and traditions are passed from one generation to the next. Therefore, cultural communication is important in the inheritance of traditions so that they can survive. One example of a tradition that still survives is the Mekering-keringan Endut tradition in the Banyuning Traditional Village, Buleleng Regency, Buleleng District. Based on the background above, there are several problem formulations, namely (1) Why is the Mekering-kering Endut tradition still carried out by the Banyuning Traditional Village manners. (2). What are the forms of cultural communication in the Mekering-kering Endut tradition in the Banyuning Traditional Village? (3) What are the implications of cultural communication in the Mekering-kering Endut tradition in the Banyuning Traditional Village, on cultural inheritance?. The theory used is the religious theory of Laswell’s Communication theory, Reception theory. The research subjects of this research are people who follow the Mekering-kering Endut tradition. The methods used to collect data are observation, interviews and document study. The collected data was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive analysis method with reduction steps, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that traditions are still carried out because they are historically based on traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation and people still believe in them. Then the form of communication is direct communication through the implementation of traditions. Lastly, the implication of tradition on cultural inheritance is that tradition will continue to exist because it will continue to be implemented. It can be concluded that the cultural communication carried out by the Banyuning community has been successful. The tradition is still maintained and is still carried out today. The war between parents and younger generations is important in passing on traditions.
