Film functions not only as entertainment but also as a space for meaning production that shapes how audiences understand social issues, including parenting. This article examines the representation of parenting patterns in the film Dua Hati Biru and its reception among young couples in Singaraja City. The study employs a qualitative approach by combining Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis and Stuart Hall's reception analysis. Data were collected through film-text observation, documentation of scenes and dialogues related to parenting, and semi-structured interviews with five young couples aged 22-33. The analysis was conducted through data reduction, denotative, connotative, and myth interpretation, followed by mapping the audience's decoding positions. The findings show that Dua Hati Biru represents parenting as a process shaped not only by affection but also by emotional readiness, family communication, economic pressure, digital literacy, and negotiation of sociocultural values. Authoritarian parenting is represented through family relations that emphasize obedience and control; authoritative or democratic parenting appears through communication and emotional involvement; while permissive tendencies emerge when parents experience psychological and social pressure. The reception among young couples is diverse: some accept the film's message as a critique of limited parenting literacy, some negotiate it with their own family experiences and conditions, while others reject the assumption that formal parenting theories are always superior to lived experience and local values. This study argues that film can serve as an educational medium for parenting issues, but its effectiveness depends on media literacy, social context, and the audience's openness to reflect on their own parenting experiences.
