Behavior Modification Using Token Economy Technique to Reduce the Habit of Playing Mobile Legend Online Games in Elementary School Students

The phenomenon of the increasing popularity of online games, especially among young people, can the negative impacts that can arise from playing excessive mobile legends, such as adverse effects on eye health, difficulty focusing, and the use of harsh sentences. The purpose of this study was to reduce the habit of playing online games, Mobile Legends in elementary school students through the application of token economy techniques. This study is a Classroom Action Research carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were fifth-grade students who showed a high tendency to play online games. The results showed a significant decrease in the duration and frequency of playing online games after the application of the token economy technique. In addition, there was an increase in learning discipline and student involvement in school activities. These findings indicate that the token economy technique is effective as a behavioral modification strategy to overcome online game addiction in elementary school students.
