Abstract

This research aims to analyze problem-solving abilities with symbolic representation of student college. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach and was conducted on 20 students at then an analysis was carried out on the results of solving questions for the 3 respondents with the most correct answers. The research instruments used to collect data were observing lecture activities, tests, interviews and documentation. The analysis stage for problem-solving abilities by Polya and symbolic representation abilities uses Fatqurhohman. The results that ; Economics education students can identify information ;  Economics education students can plan solutions to problems and convert them into mathematical symbols; Economics Education students can simplify and change mathematical calculations but errors still occur in analyzing the final score ; Economics Education Students are still unable to conclude and describe the relationship between findings and images in the form of graphic.
