Peran Perempuan Dalam Itihasa: Refleksi Tokoh Sita Dalam Cerita Ramayana

Abstract

This writing aims to describe the roles of women in Itihasa tales, for instance, Sita in the Ramayana.The methodology employed in this article involves qualitative methods utilizing direct studies, digital journals, and other sources. In the narrative of ancient epic tales and mythology deeply rooted in history, women often take on roles as influential figures, albeit at times overshadowed by male characters. These stories, commonly referred to as “itihasa” portray women in diverse and intricate roles, shaping the course of the narrative and influencing the cultural evolution of that era. Through these narratives, we trace the often overlooked footsteps of women's roles in the history that birthed timeless tales. From the steadfast Sita in the Ramayana to the wise Kunti in the Mahabharata, women emerge as forces shaping and defining the historical trajectory we recognize. This article aims to spotlight and comprehend the roles played by women in the itihasa narratives and their significance in shaping the larger contours of history and culture.
