Keywords:
tri hita karana, tuluk biyu batur temple, holiness of the templeAbstract
Tri Hita Karana, a Balinese Hindu philosophy emphasizing harmony between humans and God (Parahyangan), humans and other humans (Pawongan), and humans and the environment (Palemahan), plays a crucial role in the purification of temples. Temples, as sacred places for Balinese Hindus, require not only physical but also spiritual cleansing. The application of Tri Hita Karana in temple purification involves efforts to maintain the sanctity of the place of worship through rituals and activities that reflect this harmony. Parahyangan is manifested through prayers and religious ceremonies, Pawongan through communal cooperation and teamwork, and Palemahan through the preservation of the temple’s surrounding environment. This study shows that the application of Tri Hita Karana in temple purification not only maintains physical cleanliness but also strengthens spiritual and social bonds within the Balinese Hindu community.
