ABSTRACT
This research aims to examine the application of literacy based on Tat Twam Asi's teachings in building student empathy at Mutiara Singaraja Elementary School. Tat Twam Asi, which means "you are me and I am you," is a philosophical teaching in Hinduism that emphasizes the importance of mutual understanding and respect for other people's feelings. Through a qualitative approach, this research involves observations, interviews, and document analysis to explore literacy practices implemented in schools and their impact on the development of student empathy. The research results show that literacy activities involving reading, discussion, and reflection can increase students' understanding of other people's feelings, reduce conflict, and create a more harmonious social environment. Apart from that, the involvement of parents and the community in supporting the Tat Twam Asi-based literacy program also contributes positively to the development of student empathy. This research concludes that literacy integrated with Tat Twam Asi values is effective in building empathetic character among students and recommends strengthening collaboration between schools, parents and the community in supporting character-based education.
