Ogoh-Ogoh sebagai Sistem Nilai Sosial-Budaya dalam Perspektif Tri Hita Karana

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the values contained in the ogoh-ogoh tradition as part of local wisdom, examine their relationship with the concept of Tri Hita Karana, and explain how these values form an integrated socio-cultural system. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature study method through descriptive-interpretative analysis of various relevant sources. The results show that the ogoh-ogoh tradition contains interconnected values, including social values, symbolic-spiritual values, educational values, cultural and tourism values, as well as tolerance and cultural communication values. These values do not stand alone but interact dynamically in reflecting harmonious relationships between humans and God, among humans, and with the environment. The findings also indicate that ogoh-ogoh functions not only as a form of cultural expression but also as a medium of social interaction, cultural transmission, and informal education within society. Furthermore, this tradition continues to be reproduced through social practices and symbolic communication, enabling it to adapt to social changes without losing its fundamental values. Thus, ogoh-ogoh can be understood as an integrative socio-cultural value system aligned with the principles of Tri Hita Karana. This study contributes conceptually by positioning local wisdom as a dynamic system formed through social interaction, cultural practices, and continuous processes of value internalization.
