Abstract

Usaba memedi is a ceremony carried out with the aim of neutralizing nature. This usaba memedi is carried out on the basis of Bhisama from Rsi Markandeya who came to the land of Bali on a holy journey, which is still carried out today by the people of Bungaya village. The implementation of memedi business uses various means as a symbol of gratitude due to the fertility of agricultural products in Bungaya village as well as to honor Maha Rsi Markandheya or known as Ida Bhatara Jawa by the people of Bungaya village. What is discussed in this research is as follows: 1). Carrying out the usaba memedi ceremony. 2). The function of the usaba memedi ceremony, and 3). The theological meaning contained in the usaba memedi ceremony. The people of Bungaya village believe that by carrying out the usaba memedi ceremony, it will prevent the community from disease attacks, bhuta kala disorders, and other negative influences. Apart from that, the implementation of the usaba memedi ceremony strengthens the community's social ties and establishes good relations with all residents of Bungaya village.
