Abstract

The learning process will be more meaningful if integrated with science concepts and activities around students. Furthermore, that is reflected in local wisdom and well-known as ethnoscience. The integration of Batik Madura studies can be presented in a companion reading book in the form of Batik Madura tourism e-module for elementary school students. This e-module is prepared using STEAM approach. The purpose of this study is to develop a valid, effective, and attractive of e-module based on ethnoscience using STEAM approach as a companion reading book for the student thematic books. This study used Research and Development (R&D) model referring to the 4-D model namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of the field trial were 29 students at Elementary School of Telaga Biru 1, Tanjung Bumi Sub-district Bangkalan Regency, and 29 students at Elementary School of Pandian 1, Sumenep Regency. Data collection techniques include questionnaires and tests. This study is intended to obtain at least 3 (three) main findings, namely: (1) the validity results from content validator obtained on 63 classified as “good” and media validator obtained on 65.5 classified as “good”; (2) the effectiveness of developing e-module in terms of the proficiency test in small group trial get percentage 88,9% and in large group trial get percentage 95% classified as “effective”; and (3) the attractiveness of developing an e-module in terms of student responses get percentage 90,81% classified as attractive.
