ABSTRACT
Tradition is a fixed price or treasure that cannot be bought with money, property or
other things and this tradition is a manifestation of a national identity. As in Sidetapa Village,
Banjar District, Buleleng Regency, there are various traditional traditions including the
Sanghyang Gandrung Tradition, the Corpse Burial Tradition, the Beriang Agung Ceremony
Tradition and many more traditions that are still carried out today. They greatly appreciate
the traditions inherited from their ancestors. One of them is the Beriang Agung Ceremony
tradition which they carry out every 5 years during the full moon of the Kedasa month. The
purpose and benefits of this study are to provide understanding and knowledge about the
Beriang Agung Ceremony. This study uses a qualitative research method using theories,
namely the Functional Structural theory, Ritual theory, and Ethnopedagogy theory. The
techniques used in obtaining data are observation, interviews, literature studies and
documentation and analyzed using data triangulation techniques so that valid and holistic
conclusions are obtained. The results of the analysis of this study can be described as follows:
The objectives of maintaining the Beriang Agung Ceremony tradition include, realizing a
religious Sidetapa Village community, realizing a harmonious Sidetapa Village community,
The Form of the Beriang Agung Ceremony Tradition is related to elements concerning,
background, place and time, facilities and infrastructure, parties involved in the Beriang
Agung Ceremony Tradition procession. The Ethnopedagogical Values in the Beriang Agung
Ceremony Tradition are, the Parahyangan ethno value in tradition, the Pawongan ethno value
and the Palemahan ethno value as well as the preservation value in the ceremonial tradition.
