Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of Think-Pair-Share (TPS) learning model in improving primary school students' literacy skills. The research subjects consisted of 25 grade 5 students at SD Negeri 3 Tinga Tinga, with a quantitative approach using the One-Group Pretest-Posttest research design. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics presented in the form of tables and histograms. Inferential statistical analysis using Paired Samples t-Test, with data processing using SPSS version 29.0 for Mac software. The results showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, with a t-count value of 35.025, which was much higher than the t-table value of 2.042, and a two-sided significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) <0.001, which was smaller than the significance level of 0.05. These results indicate that the application of the TPS model significantly improved the literacy skills of grade 5 students of SD Negeri 3 Tinga-Tinga. This study provides empirical evidence that collaboration-based learning models such as TPS are effective in improving students' literacy quality. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of implementing the TPS learning model to build relevant literacy skills and an interactive learning culture at the primary education level.
