Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the SAPASARI (Every Morning Breakfast Literacy) Program in improving literacy skills of primary school students. The subjects of this study were 15 grade 4 students from SD Negeri Celukan Bawang who followed a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest research design. Literacy tests were administered before and after programme implementation as a measurement tool. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics presented in the form of tables and histograms. Normality test was conducted using Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, while homogeneity was tested using Variance Homogeneity Test. Statistical significance was analysed using Paired Samples t-Test with SPSS version 29.0 for Mac software. The results showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, with a calculated t-value of 21.313, which was significantly higher than the t-table value of 2.145, and a two-sided significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of <0.001, which was smaller than the significance level of 0.05. These results indicate that the literacy skills of grade 4 students of SD Negeri Celukan Bawang improved significantly after the implementation of the SAPASARI Programme. This study provides empirical evidence that daily routine-based literacy programmes, such as SAPASARI, are effective in improving students' literacy quality at the primary education level. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of implementing similar literacy programmes to build students' reading culture and critical thinking skills.
